Originally Prime Time Charters, I, along with my wife Phyllis have owned and operated Alaska Good Time Charters since 1991 - always from the port of Whittier! In addition to managing the business I also Captain our 50' boat Good Times throughout the season and Fool's Gold off season. Phyllis takes care of the office and many other duties that go along with multiday charters.
Phyllis was born in Alaska many years ago- we'll just leave it at that. When time allows, we venture into Prince William Sound to fish, view wildlife and enjoy the peace and quiet. For years, I was lucky enough to have Phyllis's company whether I was out fishing or hunting. Even today, at the age of $%#, Phyllis still enjoys camping in remote areas of Alaska while I go hunting.
I came to Alaska in 1962 at the age of 5. Over the years I have compiled a wealth of knowledge and a lifetime of Alaska experiences from fishing Alaska's lakes, rivers and oceans, to hunting Alaska big game throughout Alaska and best of all, experiencing the many wonders, beauty and solitude of my favorite place on earth, Prince William Sound.
Prince William Sound's rich ecosystem allows incredible amounts of wildlife, both land and marine mammals to thrive. Surrounded by towering mountains and barrier islands, the waters of Prince William Sound are some of the calmest in the North Pacific. This more than anything has allowed Prince William Sound to remain mostly unchanged by man and allows me to offer you a near wilderness experience, even today. Most of our guest consider it wilderness - I'll let you decide.
Our business motto, particularly on multiday trips, is - "Adventures beyond expectations". We strive to live up to that motto every trip. In addition to providing the best service we can, we are also honest about expectations.

Good Times is a safe, reliable and seaworthy yacht, designed and built to be a live aboard yacht. Comfortable accommodations include 3 private guest cabins, 2 bathrooms with walk-in showers, pilot house seating with the Captain, a large salon to relax in, large galley for great meals, and a covered cockpit (outside deck) for those less-than-perfect days. Good Times has a full size refrigerator, freezer, clothes dryer and Jennaire oven.
Prince William Sound is protected from the Gulf of Alaska by two large barrier islands making travel on our yacht pleasant almost every day. Sea sickness is very rare- 7 people in more than 20 years. Evenings are spent anchored in protected coves.
Some of our guests had concerns prior to taking a cruise with us about sleeping on a boat. Almost everyone who had concerns later told us their concerns were unfounded. Nearly every trip someone tells us they haven't slept so good in years.
Fool's Gold is suitable for day trip and multi-day charters. Fool's Gold has raised seating for 14 on the upper deck that offers great visibility for sightseeing and wildlife viewing. 4 additional seats with a table are available in the lower cabin. Fool's Gold has a large enclosed head (bathroom) in the lower cabin. Both lower and upper cabin is heated.
Multi-day amenities don't match those of the Good Times, but work well for shorter trips or longer trips with groups larger than 6 using both boats. Sleeping accommodations are more of a bunk style arrangement with limited privacy. Up to 4 adults or families up to 6 work best, although we can accommodate 6 adults.
Fool's Gold doesn't offer private cabins, showers, a dryer, has limited freezer space and lacks the storage space offered on Good Times. Fool's Gold has one inflatable versus two on the Good Times.
